If you have a cell phone, then you likely received an Amber Alert yesterday afternoon coming from Caledonia, MS. If you looked at the license tag info, though, you may have noticed it was a Georgia tag.
Well, two suspected kidnappers sought in that nationwide Amber Alert were captured just after midnight in Sylvester, Georgia.
34-year-old Donald Harris, 31-year-old Allison Studdard and 2-year-old daughter Maliah were traveling in a 2002 Pontiac Aztec.
Authorities had been searching for Maliah Harris since she and her parents disappeared from Lowndes County, Mississippi early Wednesday morning after her 7-month-old sister Alyssa was found dead.
Police say the 2-year-old is safe and tha Harris and Studdard are being questioned.
Harris has connections to Cook County. Law enforcement officers around south Georgia had been on high alert looking for the vehicle.
Lowndes County Chief Deputy Marc Miley says drugs were discovered in the home of Harris and Studdard. Miley told NBC's Tupelo station WTVA that a search of the home uncovered meth and ice.
Investigator Eric Granderson with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department said Maliah's 7-month-old sister was found dead in the family's home and at this point the deceased child does not seem to show signs of violence. The autopsy is pending.
