An 18-year-old woman in Hobbs, New Mexico was arrested and charged with attempted murder and child abuse after her newborn baby was found abandoned in a dumpster. Surveillance footage of her leaving the newborn was captured.
The Hobbs Police Department confirmed that the mother identified as 18-year-old Alexis Avila, admitted to throwing her newborn in the dumpster and leaving it there. The baby was found five hours later by dumpster divers and taken to a nearby hospital where it's in stable condition.
