Camila Cabello Just Matched A Huge Taylor Swift Chart Record

Camila Cabello and Taylor Swift might be close friends (and soon to be touring partners) but the pop forces have also become chart record holders, as per a recent accolade that the former Fifth Harmony bandmate achieved, courtesy of her smash, "Havana."

According to MTV, Cabello's hit has become the first song by a female artist to spend over 20 weeks inside of the Top 20 tier of the Billboard Hot 100 since Swift's 2014 smash, "Shake It Off." It's been a long time coming for "Havana" after debuting at the No. 99 position on the chart and slowly working its way to the very top. If anything, Cabello's success for the song has halted the potential of the follow-up single, "Never Be the Same," from properly flourishing on the charts, but it'll eventually have its turn to rise.

Speaking of these two, the 21-year-old recently slammed rumors that it was Swift that encouraged her to make a prompt exit from 5H. "It annoyed me that people said she was encouraging me because I know that she probably got a lot of negative criticism for that. Absolutely nobody could ever persuade me to do something," she explained during her chat with "The Dan Wootton Interview" podcast. "If I don't want to do something the whole world could be telling me and I won't do it."

Cabello explained that her instinct to please other people isn't as strong as folks might assume. "And if I do then the whole world could be telling me to not do it and I'll do it. I've always been that way," she continued. "To be honest with you, she's never ever had anything to do with that. It's so funny, because when Taylor and I talk and whenever we hang out we talk about love and boys."
