Stray Dog Rescued And Taken To Pet Friendly Restaurants In LA

Dog Begging At Table

Meet Popeye, the trendy pooch who's growing quite a following for his Instagram foodie posts.

Ivy Diep rescued the homeless, hungry pup in January of 2014. Diep would take Popeye on her "Instagram dates" in which she and a friend would try new restaurants and share pictures of their adventures on Instagram. Diep realized that Popeye made a polite dinner date. "I would bring Popeye to any of the pet-friendly places, and we realized how good he was around food," she told ABC News. "He would sit still for photos."

Popeye made regular appearances on Diep's Instagram page, prompting her to create a page for Popeye called Popeye the Foodie Dog. Popeye now has over 300 thousand followers on Instagram. Each photo is a snapshot of Popeye sitting patiently in front of yummy food from different pet friendly restaurants around Los Angeles. Sometimes Popeye gets dressed up for the occasion.

One might be surprised to know that Popeye isn't all that interested in the food he's pictured with. "We'll give him nibbles of anything that's safe for him, " Diep explains. "We always carry a bag of his favorite treats as well. He's usually not really into the food anyway. He just likes to be out and about - people watching and to bark at any other dog that walks by."
