Miley Cyrus & Kaitlynn Carter Break Up After A Month Of Dating

Celebrity Sightings in Los Angeles - September 14, 2019

Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter's relationship has come to an end.

After just a little over a month together, the couple called it quits this weekend, Us Weekly confirmed Saturday (September 21). The pair split ahead of the "Malibu" musician's performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, where she and her mother, Tish Cyrus, and older sister, Brandi Cyrus, all flew out to for the annual music and entertainment celebration.

Apparently, Carter, who was noticeably absent for her girlfriend's showcase, ditched the event and remained at home in Los Angeles. The Hills: New Beginnings star even took to Instagram to show herself relaxing in fluffy slippers as the 26-year-old was performing several hours away in Sin City.

It's unclear whether Carter's absence played a role in the pair's split.

The "Slide Away" musician and the 31-year-old first became romantically linked in August when the stars shared a picture on Instagram of them locking lips during a vacation in Italy. At the time, Cyrus had still been married to her longtime love Liam Hemsworth, with whom she later separated after photos of their intimate moment surfaced. Carter, however, was freshly-separated from her Hills costar Brody Jenner, with whom her marriage was found to be illegitimate, as the lovebirds never registered for a wedding license in the United States.

After eight months of marriage, Hemsworth filed for divorce from Cyrus, citing "irreconcilable differences." Supposedly, the actor had been taken aback by his wife's PDA with Carter, as a source told Us Weekly at the time: "He thought they could work it out, but all those pictures of her and Kaitlynn ended that. Liam comes from a very conservative family and his family was freaked out by it."
