Ok Cupid Filters Out Climate Change Deniers So You Don't Have to Date Them

Serial Killer Conviction Prompts Police To Warn Of Dating App Dangers

Online dating app, OkCupid is making the search for your climate conscious lover a bit easier to find with a new feature that is supposed to let users form closer connections!

The app took note of the 240% increase in environmental keywords like 'recycle', 'global warming', and 'Greta Thunberg' and added a filter that allows users to browse without seeing climate change deniers.

Gizmodo details that OkCupid users are very concerned about climate change. 97% believe that climate chance is real and 82% are concerned about it as well as 90% saying that they would correct their actions if they realized they were harming the environment.

“Since your match percentage with someone shows how compatible you two are, if you are a climate change activist and they think climate change is fake news, your match percentage is going to decrease,” Michael Kaye, OKCupid’s Global Communication Manager, told Earther in an email. Since most people on the platform aren’t climate deniers, that means vocally caring about the climate crisis is helping people get laid.
