Pittsburgh Police report WWI monument vandalized on Memorial Day

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police are investigating the vandalism of a WWI monument that was defaced overnight on Memorial day.

In a post on made on Facebook, the bureau says they are reviewing all available video footage and making arrangements to have the monument cleaned.

They included a statement from Pittsburgh Public Safety Director, Wendell Hissrich saying the following:

"Vandalizing a memorial on any day is wrong, but it is incomprehensible to vandalize this memorial on a day in which we honor those who served and gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. Pittsburgh Police will vigorously investigate this crime. Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately at (412) 323-7800."

They're asking that anyone with information on the crime come forward.
