State trooper resigns after text about coughing on driver to spread COVID

A Virginia state trooper resigned after the trooper confessed in a text message that he coughed on a driver he pulled over to try to spread COVID-19.

Virginia State Police began an internal investigation the trooper, Jacob Gooch, after those texts appeared during a homicide investigation in Arizona. Gooch's brother Mark has been charged with homicide for the killing of a school teacher who disappeared earlier this year. Investigators found texts between Gooch and his brother wherein Jacob Gooch tells his brother Mark that he coughed on a man he pulled over, “so he would spread Corona to the wedding they were going too. lol.”
