Zach Braff and Donald Faison get into it all on this episode of Fake Doctors, Real Friends. They’ve rewatched the Scrubs episode “My Female Trouble,” sparking conversations about strong women, why waterbeds are ultimately a letdown, Juliana Marguiles turning down one of the biggest TV paychecks of all time, Sam Lloyd’s top-notch pratfall, why Donald doesn’t ski, Zach’s youthful love for Stephanie Seymour, their favorite Scrubs GIFs, how great Richard Kind is, The Facts of Life and Saved By The Bell, overpopulation, WandaVision, underwater biodomes, and much more. Then, a medical student named Daniel Gordani calls in from Sweden with a potentially world-changing idea.
Their laugh-out-loud moments are covered, from the “marathon death race” at the beginning to the cartoon cutout of Turk on the mattress to the Janitor playing a fake Dr. Reed. They both marvel at Juliana’s strength in walking away from a $27 million payday on ER: “Everyone in Hollywood was like….’good for her….I’m available!’” Zach jokes. He can’t think of a comedy that was able to bring in fresh cast members to keep the show going like ER, but Donald points out that Facts Of Life did it. That starts a conversation about an episode where Tootie almost gets lured into prostitution when she goes to see a Broadway show unsupervised. “Well, that’ll turn you to prostitution every time!” Zach laughs. “Think how many parents were like, ‘See? That’s what happens when you go see Broadway.’”
When Daniel calls in, he asks them what they would do with unlimited resources (besides, of course, fixing all the world’s problems). Donald would build a “giant biodome” because climate change will eventually put everyone underwater, “and my biodome would then become Atlantis.” Zach recalls a billionaire who has “the biggest ultra-yacht in the world,” with submarines and helipads. “I’ll take that,” he says. “I’ll take my submarine down to your f**king biodome!” But it’s Daniel’s charitable foundation idea that really captures their interest. Can “an ordinary guy from a small town in Sweden” really change the world? Find out on this episode of Fake Doctors, Real Friends.
