Kim Kardashian Details 'The Making Of' Her Extreme Met Gala Look

Kim Kardashian turned heads at the 2024 Met Gala earlier this month when she walked the red carpet in an eye-popping metallic look with an extremely cinched corset that whittled down her waist. Now, she's giving fans a closer look at how the stunning ensemble came together for fashion's biggest night.

The SKIMS founder took to her Instagram on Thursday (May 16) to show some behind-the-scenes photos and videos of "the making of" the Maison Margiela look she wore for the Met Gala this year, including some pics of designer John Galiano constructing the dress to Kardashian's exact measurements during fittings, per Page Six.

She also showed off the "invisible" heels she wore for the night, a pair of clear sky-high platforms with no heel to ensure it wouldn't get caught in her skirt as she carefully walked the carpet, a daunting task when the major aspect of the Met Gala is walking up the iconic steps into the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Kardashians star shared some pics of her taking some practice steps around her hotel to get ready for the big show.

Even her sister Khloe Kardashian couldn't understand how Kim could walk in the heels, writing in the comments, "Damsel in distress. That invisible heel is wild! How did you manage? I definitely would have fallen."

Kardashian made waves when she walked the Met Gala carpet on May 6, showing off her tiny waist in a custom look that included an armor-like bustier top with floral accents, sheer silver chainmail skirt with floral and leaves motifs, and a simple gray shawl around her shoulders, keeping with the theme of "Garden of Time" for the new "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
