'Pop-Up' Weddings Are In

Some people dream about a 'fairy tale' wedding with all the details they’ve always wanted, but that can get pretty pricey. The average price of a wedding in the U.S. is close to $34,000 and that has a lot of couples rethinking their nuptials. According to a recent study of 500 soon-to-wed couples, 47% of them considered a courthouse ceremony or even eloping instead of a traditional event. But some are saying “I do” to another alternative: a pop-up wedding.

Wedding expert Lara Mahler and her team of coordinators at The Privilege is Mine specialize in fuss-free wedding “alternatives” for lovebirds who want a chic, customized event for $15,000 or less, which she calls a “pop-up” wedding. Other wedding organizers are doing these types of nuptials too, which can be put together quickly in a few months or even weeks, and still include cake-cutting, dancing, and bouquets, just for a lot less.

So instead of planning some super expensive, extravagant event, planners take care of everything, leaving a few key decisions, like flowers, menu, and music to the couple. And the best part? It’s all affordable, so the newlyweds can save money and still have a wedding they want.
