This HOA Act Like 'Scrooges' For These Homeowners

How soon is too soon when it comes to decorating for Christmas? Some folks like to deck the halls much earlier than others but one couple in Texas who got a head start are now being told to take it down by their neighborhood homeowners association.

Days after Claudia and Nick Simonis set up some Christmas decorations in the yard of their San Antonio home, they got a letter from their HOA, Diamond Association Management & Consulting, telling them to reign in the holiday cheer. On November 1st, the couple put out a display including a snowman, reindeer, and Santa hanging from a helicopter and says they got a letter on November 4th telling them to “please remove the snowman until closer to the holiday season.”

"I just found it crazy,'' Claudia says. "Especially that they didn’t give us a time. Like, when is the right time to put it?"

She’s eight months pregnant and says she wouldn’t be able to put up the display if they waited until closer to Christmas. The couple says they’re not taking their decorations down just because the HOA asked them to. And now some of their neighbors are starting to join in with holiday decorations in their yards as well, so maybe the grinches will let them keep them up.
