EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — A 37-year-old is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Effingham County on Friday, according to local law enforcement.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) said their Traffic Unit responded to a single-vehicle crash near Gracen Road and Old Louisville Road just after 9 p.m. Friday.
ECSO said that Tonya Mooney traveled through the intersection and ended up in a pond upside down. Good Samaritans and deputies attempted to free her out of the submerged vehicle but were unable to do so, ECSO said.
Mooney was pronounced dead on the scene and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
This incident is under investigation.
