2 soldiers killed during training exercise at Fort Stewart

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - Two soldiers were killed Thursday evening during a training exercise at Fort Stewart.

The two Soldiers who were assigned to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division died in a vehicle accident during a field training exercise. No additional Soldiers were injured in the accident. 

“We are heartbroken about this tragic accident and will do everything we can to support the Soldiers’ Families and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” said Maj. Gen. Christopher Norrie, 3rd Inf. Div. commanding general. “The entire division extends our deepest condolences to the Families of the Soldiers who died in this accident.” 

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp weighed in on the news in a post on X:

"Please join Marty, the girls, and me in praying for the families of these two soldiers and the entire Fort Stewart community at this time," Kemp wrote. "We are saddened to learn about the loss of these brave individuals who wanted to serve their country."

The names of the deceased will not be released until their families have been notified. The accident is under investigation.
