26-year-old mother in hospice care dies: GoFundMe

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) — The 26-year-old mother from Richmond Hill who was placed into hospice care earlier this month has died, her husband said on Friday.

Sara Long battled with heart and kidney failure for several years. Sunday, Dec. 8, the Richmond Hill community came together to try to give the Long family the best Christmas, since it would be her last.

On Friday, Sara's husband, Justin Long confirmed that on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 10:20 p.m., Sara had passed away.

"I'm glad she lived a great 26 years instead of 100 mediocre ones," Justin said on GoFundMe. "Thank you, Sara for giving me the absolute best 7 years of my life and the most beautiful daughter."

Justin said that the money donated will help cover Celebration of Life costs, cremation and trust fund account for their four-year-old daughter. The original goal of $15,000 has been surpassed, with over $24,000 being raised by Friday, Dec. 13.

He also said that Sara worked to create a "hope chest" for their daughter, and if you would like to send a letter about Sara for her to read when she is older, to reach out for an email to send the letter to.

"Sara Long can't be described by one word, sentence, paragraph, or book," Justin said. "Not even the entire Encyclopedia collection can scratch the surface of this beautiful woman. What I can say is Sara was the most beautiful, kind-hearted, caring person to ever exist, sacrificing her own energy and resources to help others and bring joy to as many others as possible. She was a successful businesswoman, perfect wife, and most importantly, the best mother any child could ask for."
