520 Wings receives grant from The HEINZ Black Kitchen Initiative

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - 520 Wings is one of five Georgia restaurants that is being awarded a grant to help continue their invaluable work uplifting and preserving the legacy of Black food in America.

The HEINZ Black Kitchen Initiative, a collaboration between the iconic condiment brand, The LEE Initiative, and Southern Restaurants for Racial Justice (SRRJ), is honoring businesses around the country with a $20,000 grant to allow them to continue the work they are doing.

In Georgia, the following businesses have been selected as this year’s grantees:

  • Wrap-A-Lot Fresh Express offers fresh and flavorful wraps in College Park, bringing healthy and convenient options to the area.
  • Byron Hospitality, founded by Chef Simone Byron, is a hospitality consulting firm based in Tucker, Georgia. The company specializes in providing expert guidance and strategic planning to businesses within the hospitality industry.
  • 520 Wings, helmed by Gary Gordon in Savannah, serves up mouthwatering wings with bold flavors, making it a local favorite.
  • Wadada Natural Foods Juice Bar, is a natural food grocery and juice bar in Atlanta, offering wholesome food and juices that nourish both the body and soul.
  • Woodstone Bakery and Cafe in Fayetteville, combines fresh-baked goods with an inviting café experience for the local community.

These businesses are not only making a lasting impact in Georgia's vibrant culinary scene, but they are also helping to shape a more inclusive and equitable food industry.

The grants will support various needs, including restaurant renovations, marketing, staff development, and more.
