6-year-old accidentally shot in Hampton County, law enforcement says

HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — A 6-year-old child was accidentally shot in the Cummings area on Monday, the Hampton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) said.

The incident occurred on Ram Horn Road. The child was airlifted to a medical facility for urgent treatment and is now in stable condition, according to HCSO.

“Our hearts go out to this child, their family, and the entire community," Sheriff Russell said. "We are working diligently surrounding the circumstances of this tragic incident. I ask everyone to keep this young child and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is assisting the HCSO with the investigation. HCSO said that they will provide further updates as information becomes available.
