Arrest made in crash that killed Southern ROTC instructor, officials say

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) said Thursday that they have arrested a Brooklet man in connection with a motorcycle crash that killed a Georgia Southern University ROTC instructor.

This arrest comes after months of investigation into the crash that killed Christopher Decker, a senior military science instructor for Georgia Southern University Army ROTC, on March 7, 2024.

The ECSO Traffic Unit said they arrested Jadon Mike, 21, from Brooklet, on Thursday. Officials said that Mike is being charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree, driving under the influence (DUI) and failure to yield.

Decker was riding his motorcycle at the intersection of GA Highway 21 and West First Street when the crash occurred.
