Arrest made in deadly W 61st Street shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a deadly March shooting.

Booking records show Leearnell Williams was arrested on Thursday and faces charges of murder and aggravated assault.

Williams is accused of shooting Bilal Williamson, 37, on March 9 in the 200 block of W 61st St.

Williamson was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Savannah Police Chief Lenny Gunther said he's proud of the officers and detectives who have worked on this case.

"I think it is a reminder to our communities that we will actively and aggressively pursue anyone who inflicts gun violence on our city," Gunther stated.
