BEAUFORT, S.C. (WSAV) - Beaufort County will open two cold weather shelters on Tuesday, December 3, as temperatures continue to drop in the Lowcountry.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) announced that the two shelters will be open for those in need of shelter due to the below-freezing atmosphere.
The first is Sea Island Presbyterian Church, located at 81 Lady’s Island Drive, Beaufort. This shelter will open at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and will close at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. Dinner and breakfast will be provided. Showers will also be available. Sea Island Presbyterian Church advises no weapons, alcohol, smoking, or pets are permitted; however, service animals will be allowed.
The second is Christ Lutheran Church, located at 829 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island. This space will open at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and will close at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Dinner and a morning to-go meal will be provided. They advise no weapons, alcohol, smoking or pets are permitted. Service animals are allowed. Transportation to this shelter will be provided by Deep Well Project, located at 80 Capital Drive, Hilton Head Island, at 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
