Harvard Law School professor and attorney Derrick Bell was the originator of the academic field of study known as Critical race theory (CRT). It would focus on the relationships between social conceptions of race and ethnicity, social and political laws, and mass media.
Few, if any, realize that the legal cases regarding the segregation of Chatham County public schools would ultimately contribute to the formation of CRT.
