Body of Sam Lilley arrives in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The body of Sam Lilley, the Richmond Hill-born pilot who perished on the fatal American Airlines flight 5342, arrived in Savannah on Saturday morning.

First Officer Lilley was serving as co-pilot when the flight collided with in Washington D.C. the night of Wednesday, Jan. 29. He pursued his career in aviation after studying marketing at Georgia Southern University (GSU).

Lilley was honored with a water canon salute at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport before the body was carried by hearse back to his hometown.
