STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) – A large trash fire broke out at a Bulloch County garbage collection service building Monday afternoon.
Officials told News 3 that two piles of trash caught fire at Allgreen Services around 1 p.m.
The fire shut down a portion of U.S. Route 301 between Highway 46 and Interstate 16. Crews had to bring a water line across the roadway to help extinguish the blaze.

At 5 p.m., traffic was still being rerouted in the area.
Officials said they don't believe there were any outside factors involved in the fire. Something placed in the trash, like a battery, was likely the cause, the fire chief in Bulloch County told WSAV.
Similar fires have broken out several times in the last year at the business.
