CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - A member of the Chatham County Emergency Service team is among 143 individuals who will be honored in Washington next month.
The American Ambulance Association (AAA) will recognize extraordinary EMS professionals during the annual Stars of Life celebration from November 11-13, 2024 in Washington, DC. Among those who will be honored is Chatham Emergency Services Dale Simmons.
Dale Simmons has dedicated more than two decades to fire and emergency medical services. He began his career as a rural South Georgia volunteer and eventually became a paramedic with Chatham Emergency Services. He has served as an officer and fire chief in a combination department in South Georgia. Simmons also earned his paramedic teaching credentials in 2013, teaching both EMT and paramedic classes.
Simmons has also established the Chaplaincy program for first responders. It has provided tremendous support to first responders during times of trauma. Simmons sees it as a way of helping first responders navigate the challenges of their demanding profession and family life.
Chatham Emergency Services CEO Chuck Kearns notes, “Dale’s passion for professionalism in patient care is evident in his dedication to his work and his impact on those he serves. His extensive knowledge and compassionate approach have left a lasting impact on both his field and his community.”
Simmons currently serves as the EMS Training Program Administrator for Chatham Emergency Services and works closely with Resilient Coastal Georgia and the Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council to build a more trauma-informed community. His dedication to public service was passed to his children, all of whom have worked in the field of emergency services.
Stars of Life pays tribute to the dedication of hometown heroes while spotlighting the critical role EMS plays in our healthcare infrastructure. While in DC, the Stars will receive medallions and plaques in thanks for their lifesaving and life-sustaining service.
