SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The Chatham County Fire Department (CCFD) joined the Chatham County Marine Patrol (CCMP) performed a water rescue in the Ogeechee River on Monday, Nov. 11.

According to CCFD, fire and marine crews responded to four kayakers who were left stranded in the river.
One kayaker flipped and tried unsuccessfully to retrieve their paddle. The current was too strong for the others to assist, CCFD said.
The CCFD Swift Water Rescue Team launched at Morgan's Bridge and the kayakers were located near Middle Landing/Shad Rd.
The CCFD encourages mindfulness and safety and urges those intending to go out on the water to pay attention to marine advisories before heading out.
