BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - Millions are being invested into the old fisherman's co-op property in Bryan County, with the help of state funding.
The land was bought by the Bryan County Commission for $3 million. Commission Chairman Carter Infinger told News 3 that it was important to him that the county makes something of that land for the public to enjoy.
"There's not any waterfront property that the public can enjoy," Infinger said. "I think this is a good opportunity for people who live in this community to come out here. I think it's very important. It is really a recreational asset to the community and also people can put their boats in here and come and fish and enjoy picnics here."

The facility will feature boat trailer access parking, four-lane concrete boat ramps, floating docks, a fishing boardwalk and a waterfront pavilion. People can also enjoy a walking, biking and hiking trail, picnic areas, restrooms, showers and a nature education boardwalk with wildlife observation points.
Infinger said that he's excited for the residents and visitors to enjoy the facilities at this already popular fishing spot.
The location has direct access to the Atlantic Ocean through St. Catherine's Sound. It is also right off the Intercoastal Waterway, which runs from New York to Miami.
According to Infinger, the county is doing a lot of the construction work themselves, which has saved them millions.
Phase one is expected to be completed by springtime.
