EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - The Effingham County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) has received a grant in support of its mission to put safety first.
The $10,000 grant was given to ECSO by Norfolk Southern Corporation.
The grant is part of two community programs launched by Norfolk Southern in 2023.
The Safety-First Grant Program seeks to advance safety organizations and initiatives. The Thriving Communities Grant Program aims to promote economic opportunity, support vibrant community life, and provide equal access to necessities.
The grant will be used to re-establish ECSO's Drone Program. It will go to purchasing an Airwork M30T Aircraft equipped with a thermal, wide, zoom and laser rangefinder.
“This funding will have an immediate impact on the work we do. We’re thankful to Norfolk Southern for investing in our community and for supporting our mission,” said Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie.
