EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga (WSAV) - The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) Drug Suppression Unit has arrested one man following an investigation that uncovered a substantial amount of illegal guns and drugs.
On November 25, 2024, the ECSO Drug Suppression Unit arrested 37-year-old Jeffrey Taylor, of Effingham County, after a lengthy drug investigation that spanned several counties.
“During the arrest, Taylor brandished a gun at investigators, but the situation was quickly de-escalated to avoid the exchange of gunfire,” said Captain Rick Dailey.
The ECSO Drug Suppression Unit seized
- 711 grams (25oz) (1.5lbs) of Fentanyl
- 100 grams (3.5oz) of powder cocaine
- 6 grams of crack cocaine
- 2 grams of methamphetamine



A gun was also taken into custody during the seizure.
Taylor was arrested and faces charges of:
- Trafficking Cocaine
- Trafficking Fentanyl
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of crack cocaine
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Aggravated assault on law enforcement
The estimated street value of the drugs and gun seized is over $100,000.
The arrest was made with assistance from the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) Drug Suppression Unit.
