Evans County EMA encourages residents to move to higher ground amid floodin

EVANS COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - The Evans County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) in encouraging residents in low-lying areas to move to higher ground amid intense flash flooding.

The agency announced the encouragement on Facebook on Thursday.

"All Flood Gates have been opened at George L Smith State park. That means there is a lot of water heading toward Evans County. If you live in Low-lying area please consider moving to higher ground. If you know someone that lives in these areas please make sure they know!"

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a flash flood warning is in effect until 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
