BEAUFORT, S.C. (WSAV) – Homeowners and renters impacted by Hurricane Helene in the Palmetto State now have longer to apply for federal assistance.
FEMA will be taking applications in several South Carolina counties until Tuesday, Jan. 28.
This applies to local Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper counties, and the following:
Abbeville, Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Cherokee, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Kershaw, Laurens, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens, Richland, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union and York counties and the Catawba Indian Nation.
FEMA extends assistance deadline for Georgia
The quickest way to apply is to go online to DisasterAssistance.gov. You can also apply using the FEMA App for mobile devices or by calling toll-free 800-621-3362.
The telephone line is open every day and help is available in many languages. If you use a relay service, such as Video Relay Service (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service. FEMA urges survivors to apply as soon as possible.
You must apply before the Jan. 28 deadline, but after, you may still submit documents, update your contact information and stay in contact with FEMA regarding your application.
