Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home adds new board members

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home has announced that it will be adding six new members to its board along with four newly selected officers.

The Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the legacy of one of the South’s greatest writers.

“We are so grateful to all of these community leaders who are giving their time and expertise to make sure the childhood home of Flannery O’Connor is preserved and that we are able to provide educational opportunities through guided tours, informative lectures, and literary events,” said Janie Bragg, Executive Director. “We are looking forward to leveraging their talents and connections to bring the community an exciting centennial celebration of Flannery O’Connor in 2025.”

The new members of the board are:

  • Betsy Barrow, eCommerce Manager, Dynacraft
  • Rachael Flora, Community Manager, Regus
  • Kat Montgomery, Outreach Paralegal, Georgia Legal Services
  • Matthew Nichols, Compensation and Data Specialist, City of Savannah
  • Catherine Renner, Retired, Former Director of Annual Giving, Telfair Museums
  • Aaron Richman, Director of Finance, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.
  • Kelly Zacovic, Senior Archivist, City of Savannah Municipal Archives

The officers include:

  • President: Mary Villeponteaux, Professor, Department of English, Georgia Southern University
  • President-Elect: Lee Griffith, Professor, Department of Writing, Savannah College of Art and Design
  • Treasurer: Aaron Richman, Director of Finance, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.
  • Secretary: Samuel Beetler II, Cemeteries Division Director, City of Savannah
