SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Georgia heads south to take on the University of Florida. Georgia Tech gets a week off as they prepare to take on a top team. Georgia Southern goes on the road to get a win and the Falcons hold on against Dallas.
Here is this week’s review of college and NFL football around Georgia.
#2 Georgia vs Florida – The Georgia Bulldogs go into Jacksonville and come out with a 34-20 over SEC rival Florida. The Bulldogs offense was one yard shy of doubling Florida's production on the day. Georgia finished with an impressive 455 yards of total offense.
Senior signal caller Carson Beck was 25 of 40 on the day for 309 passing yards. Beck threw two touchdowns but had three interceptions as well. Freshman RB Nate Frazier had 19 carries on the day for 82 yards and one rushing touchdown.
Georgia will now head out on the road to face #16 Ole Miss in Oxford. The Rebels are currently 7-2 on the season.
Georgia Southern vs Southern Alabama – The Georgia Southern Eagles found a way to go on the road and come away with a 34-30 win over Southern Alabama. The Eagles posted 337 yards of total offense on the day.
Sophomore QB JC French was 22 of 27 on the day for 198 yards. French threw two touchdowns. Senior QB Dexter Williams II saw time under center as well. He threw for 33 yards going 3 for 5 with one touchdown pass.
Sophomore WR Josh Dallas was a big target on the day for the Georgia Southern offense. Dallas had five catches for 96 yards and two touchdown receptions.
Georgia Southern will now return to Statesboro this week to take on the 2-7 Troy Trojans.
Friday Night Blitz 2024 Week 12 scores, highlights
Georgia Tech vs #4 Miami – The Yellow Jackets were off this past weekend and will take on #4 Miami at home on Nov. 9.
Savannah State vs Albany State University – Savannah State gets back into the plus column with a 28-26 win over Albany State University. The Tigers were responsible for 292 yards of total offense in the game.
Quarterback Jhaydon Sullivan was 16 of 22 for 261 yards through the air. Sullivan had two touchdowns in the game as well as one interception.
Senior WR's Da'Shun Mitchell and Brent Carr were both a big part of the team's Saturday success. Mitchell had four catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Carr accounted for five catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Savannah State will now head to Columbia, S.C. to take on the 3-6 Benedict College Tigers.
Atlanta Falcons vs Dallas Cowboys – Atlanta's offense refuses to slow down as they get a 27-21 win over the Dallas Cowboys. The Falcons offense went for 310 yards of offense on just 56 plays.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins has found a perfect spot in this Atlanta offense since signing earlier this year. Cousins was 19 of 24 for 222 passing yards. The 13-year veteran threw for three touchdowns in the game.
Dallas QB Dak Prescott was ruled out to start the 4th quarter with a hamstring injury.
Atlanta will now head to New Orleans to take on the 2-7 Saints in a NFC South matchup.
