GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — The Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) has arrested a juvenile in relation to an investigation of a gunshot injury involving a minor.
GCPD arrested Traveon Jordan, 17, of Brunswick, in relation to an investigation involving a minor who discharged a handgun and accidentally injured himself, resulting in a non-life-threatening injury.
Patrol Officers responded in Dec. 2024 to a call regarding a 3-year-old picking up an unsecured handgun and accidentally shooting himself in the hand, resulting in a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Investigation by detectives revealed that Jordan had left the handgun unattended and within reach of the minor. Additionally, Jordan unlawfully possessed the handgun.
As a result, detectives obtained arrest warrants for Second-Degree Cruelty to Children, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under the Age of 18.
Detectives spotted Jordan at a business and attempted to arrest him on his outstanding warrants. Jordan fled from the detectives but later surrendered to detectives and officers. He was apprehended shortly thereafter without incident.
A handgun that Jordan had thrown onto a roof while fleeing was retrieved with the help of Glynn County Fire and Rescue. He was subsequently transported to the Glynn County Detention Center and turned over to detention staff on charges of second-degree Cruelty to Children, Reckless Conduct, two counts of Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under the Age of 18, and Obstruction of Peace Officers during the Discharge of their lawful duties.
