Gov. Kemp extends Hurricane Helene state of emergency

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Gov. Brian Kemp on Tuesday extended the existing state of emergency for Georgia counties hit hardest by Hurricane Helene.

"After one of the most destructive storms our state has ever experienced, we know Georgians impacted by Hurricane Helene need every resource available as they continue to recover," the governor posted on X.

The order includes the following local counties: Appling, Bacon, Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Candler, Chatham, Coffee, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Jeff Davis, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Montgomery, Screven, Tattnall, Toombs and Wayne.

The order will end on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 11:59 p.m., unless it is renewed or terminated by further executive action.

The state of emergency frees up state resources to more easily coordinate recovery efforts.
