HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) - The Hampton County Police Department (HCPD) is alerting the public to a recent phone scam involving the impersonation of a police officer.
According to HCPD, the call comes from someone identifying as a police officer with a badge number claiming that the recipient of the call has missed jury duty. The call reportedly continues that the recipient must pay a fine or go before the judge.
HCPD urges the public not to share any personal information nor money with this caller.
