HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) - Hilton Head Island is among 20 airports nationwide that will receive funding from a new grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
$300,000 will be awarded to the Hilton Head Island Airport to rehabilitate and replace many building components, including roof, carpet, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), bathrooms, security system, exterior doors, lightning protection and tower antennas.
The full investment is $20 Million and will cover repairs and upgrades to airports and air traffic control towers across the country in states like California, Tennessee and West Virginia.
"Through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Biden-Harris Administration is supporting every part of our aviation system—including airports in small communities that drive local economies and help people get where they need to go,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “With today’s announcement, 20 more airports will have the resources they need to upgrade operations and make travel safer and more efficient.”
