Local radio personality Monty Jett dies

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) — A local Hilton Head Island radio legend has died. Monty Jett was 76.

Jett broadcast in the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire for over 60 years. He was honored with the Spirit Award by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters just a few months ago.

Most recently, the familiar voice was the grand marshal during the 2024 St. Patrick’s Day festivities on Hilton Head Island.

His signature voice was a fixture at many charity events and festivals in our area. Jett was a dedicated community member whose charitable work over decades helped raise millions for people in need.
