RINCON, Ga. (WSAV) — A man has been charged after a video was posted of a dog being dragged by a car, officials said.
Clemente Neri, 35, was charged with cruelty to animals, according to a Rincon Police Department (RPD) report. Neri reportedly tied a tan dog to a car mirror and watched the car driving away, dragging the dog.
The police report said that Neri told an officer that he "did not expect" his girlfriend to drive away and that he attempted to stop her. When the officer showed Neri the video where he did not attempt to stop her, he then said, "he didn't know what to do."
Law enforcement could not remove the dog, since humane enforcement would be the acting agency for removal, a Rincon official said.
An official told WSAV that the dog was not injured. The girlfriend was not charged.
