TOWNSEND, Ga. (WSAV) – A McIntosh County man and registered sex offender has been charged with sexual exploitation of children after a state investigation.
Wesley Covenah, 40, of Townsend, was arrested on Dec. 11 by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), with assistance from the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office, and booked into the county jail.
Covenah has child molestation convictions from 2007 in Chatham County.
The GBI said their agency began investigating Covenah's online activity in September after they received a Cyber Tipline Report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about child sexual abuse material.

Investigators obtained a warrant to search his home and then secured his arrest.
