POOLER, Ga. (WSAV) - The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth has received the title of "Best Museum" in the 2024 Best of Georgia Awards.
The awards are given by the Georgia Business Journal and recognize the museum's dedication to preserving the history and legacy of the Eighth Air Force.
Out of more than 30 contenders across the state, the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force was selected as the top institution by public vote.
The award is designed to highlight the role the museum plays in education, preservation, and community engagement as it shares the story of the Eighth Air Force’s efforts and impact during World War II.
The museum boasts a fully restored B-17 "Flying Fortress" and the multimedia "Mission Experience," an immersive simulated bombing mission in a theater utilizing actual combat footage.
