BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - Bulloch County officials say the worst is yet to come, with temperatures dropping again tonight and road conditions deteriorating as the day goes on.
Dangerously slick ice is coming now that some of the snow has thawed into the streets, according to Emergency Management Director Corey Kemp. They are still warning residents to stay off of the roads unless it's an emergency. Officials say conditions will improve by Friday.
Public works has closed some minor streets. The Mayor says sidewalks will also be treacherous.
Sheriff Noel Brown is hoping to discourage any joy-riding that may happen in the County.
Brown says as long as you're playing in your own backyard, it's fine. If you're caught doing donuts or something similar on any dirt or paved roads around the county, he says they'll cite you with destruction to public property. On a second offense, he says they will give a citation, make an arrest and impound your vehicle.
Bulloch County schools will be closed again on Thursday and Georgia Southern is planning to move their classes online.
The County Fire Department responded to 16 calls of service over the snowfall. They're asking everyone to be fire-safe when working with space heaters or any fires.
