SPRINGFIELD, Ga. (WSAV) — The Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC) will conduct an open house to discuss a new electric transmission line project in Effingham County.
Effingham County said that the meeting aims to inform the public about GTC's plans to acquire land easements for this project and to discuss the possibility of using eminent domain. They said the event will also give community members a chance to share their opinions on the proposal.
Effingham County said that GTC recently found that part of the existing Egypt Tap 46kV line needs to be rerouted to improve access and reliability. To fix this, they said GTC plans to build about 7.5 miles of a new transmission line, which will initially operate as a 46 kV line, following the preferred route shown on the attached map.
The meeting is scheduled for Nov. 19 from 6-8 p.m. at the Mizpah Church Social Hall, located at 122 Mizpah Road, Clyo.
