BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) – A pedestrian is dead after being struck on a highway in Beaufort County on Monday, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
News 3 is told the fatal crash happened around 6 p.m. on Trask Parkway/Highway 21 at Albergottie Creek Bridge.
SC Highway Patrol said the driver of a four-door Toyota sedan was traveling south on the roadway when they hit the woman. The woman has been identified as 62-year-old Catherine Weichbrodt, of Beaufort, the Island Packet reported.

The driver was not injured.
Southbound lanes of Trask Parkway were blocked and traffic was re-routed as emergency officials responded to the scene.
The coroner's office will not release the victim's name until a close relative has been notified.
