Port Wentworth awarded 2024 GRPA-Hawks Partnership Grant

PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WSAV) - The City of Port Wentworth Parks and Recreation Department has been awarded the 2024 Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) -Hawks Partnership Grant.

This grant will directly fund the youth basketball season and is made possible through the GRPA partnering with the Atlanta Hawks and the Hawks Foundation.

Port Wentworth is one of 43 agencies across the state of Georgia to receive the funding. The Parks and Recreation Department will now be able to grow a higher-quality program in the community. Girls and boys from the ages of three to 16 are encouraged to participate in the youth basketball practices and games.

“We are excited to have received this grant and look forward to seeing the impact it will have on our community,” said Tiffany Lancaster, Director of Port Wentworth Parks and Recreations Department. “This funding will help us offer more opportunities for our young athletes to grow, both on and off the court, and we are so proud to be a part of such a positive initiative.”
