Port Wentworth homicide suspect apprehended in Missouri

PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WSAV) - A homicide suspect is now in custody thanks to a multi-agency effort across states, the Port Wentworth Police Department said Sunday.

Frederic Green, 47, was apprehended in St. Louis, Missouri, in connection to the death of Antwan Small.

The Chatham County Coroner’s Office said Small, 49, was shot at least one time in the 100 block of Saussy Road in Port Wentworth on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Port Wentworth PD said the incident stemmed from a personal dispute and appeared to be an isolated incident, but they considered Green armed and dangerous.

Officials knew the vehicle he was believed to be driving and started searching for him across multiple states.

Port Wentworth PD said the Lake St. Louis Police Department in Missouri took him into custody after a short pursuit.

Green is being held at the St. Charles County Department of Corrections as he awaits extradition to Georgia to face charges.

"The Port Wentworth Police Department extends its gratitude to the Lake St. Louis Police

Department, St. Charles County Sheriff's Office, Georgia State Patrol, Liberty County Sheriffs

Office and, Hinesville Police Department for their collaboration in bringing this matter to a swift

resolution," a statement from the department reads.
