Rincon Elementary teacher wins "A Banana for the Teacher"

RINCON, Ga. (WSAV) - As we get deeper into the school year, we don't want to forget about the incredible job our local teachers are doing every single day.

"Surprised for sure. Unexpected.  Wasn't really prepared," said Rincon Elementary teacher Kiristen Boles.

Boles, a third-grade teacher, was surprised as our next winner of "A Banana for the Teacher."

"I'm glad that my work speaks for itself and I'm glad they were able to see that in me and take the time to actually nominate me.  I feel very special, for sure," Boles told WSAV.

That's why she also adding the title of our newest "A Banana for the Teacher."

"Math is very hands-on so buying things that we can use to make it more hands-on and fun.  Science - contributing to experiments and other projects in the class.  This will help a lot for sure," Boles said.

Ms. Boles can buy anything and everything she wants with a $500 grant from WSAV, Farah & Farah and the Savannah Bananas to help her students thrive every day.

"It's my drive to be here every day.  Teaching is life. I don't know what I would do without it.  Just coming here, making their day, inspiring them - they inspire me," Boles said.
