Runways at Savannah/Hilton Head airport closed until noon Friday due to sno

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - Runways at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport will be closed until noon on Friday as crews are working to clear the snow and ice.

"They're out there working, and mother nature is helping a bit," Lori Lynah, Director of Marketing and Air Service Development, said.

119 flights total have been canceled since the winter storm moved in Tuesday, according to Lynah.

Airport officials are encouraging passengers to check with their airline for flight information and confirm reservations before coming to the airport.

"This is exactly what happened in 2018. We don't have snow removal equipment, so we rely of mother nature and the pieces of equipment that we have can help. It's a waiting game for sure," Lynah said.
