SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – If you've been dodging potholes or trying to avoid rocky roads in your neighborhood; your ride could become smoother. The Savannah City Council plans to vote today on a road improvement plan that could reduce bumpy rides for drivers.
City Hall could be buzzing today over a topic up for debate. The big topic? A 4.4-million-dollar street resurfacing contract up for vote here this afternoon.
Savannah City Council will vote on a road improvement plan that would authorize a 4.4-million-dollar contract. If approved, this project will target several roads across the city, and repair asphalt streets that were left off the 2024 repair list. The funding will come from a mix of local grants and SPLOST funds.
If voted yes, the contract would allow the resurfacing of some key roads, including a combination of local and state-funded projects. We're looking at everything from road repairs to full resurfacing across several neighborhoods.
We'll be keeping an eye on that vote later this afternoon. We did reach out to the city, we expect to hear more on the impacted areas today. Our website will update as soon as we have that information.
