SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The Club Car Championship announced Thursday morning that it has given a sponsor exemption to a Savannah native.
Savannah native Hughes Threlkeld will receive an exemption to compete in the eighth playing of the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club.
“We are excited to welcome Hughes Threlkeld into the field for this year’s Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club,” said Brit Donahue, tournament director. “Uplifting the Savannah community is an important mission of the tournament, and we are thrilled for Hughes to be making his Korn Ferry Tour debut in his hometown.”
Threlkeld is currently a senior at the University of North Georgia. His team is on the No. 2 ranked NCAA Division II men’s golf team. He is a 2024 GCAA all-American honorable mention. Threlkeld graduated from Savannah’s Benedictine Military School in 2021.
“I am incredibly grateful to both Club Car and the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club for affording me this opportunity,” said Hughes Threlkeld. “To have my first Korn Ferry Tour start be in my hometown of Savannah is a dream come true. I’m excited to represent this community and can’t wait to tee it up at the Deer Creek Course.”
