SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A recent scam prompted a warning from the Savannah Police Department Friday.
"SPD will never call and demand payment for legal matters or other reasons. Legitimate agencies do not ask for payment via gift cards, wire transfers, or mobile payment apps," a social media post from the department reads.

Officials said recently, residents have received phone calls from a "Sgt. Paige" posing as a real law enforcement officer.
If you suspect a scam, SPD recommends verifying the caller's identity by contacting the department — not a phone number the caller has given you.
